Communication is key… or so they say (wink, wink). Every year I make new(ish) commitments on how I am going to improve as a teacher. It’s an EVEERRRR growing list… That said, I want to continue to focus on parent/guardian communication. My parents LOVE to be in the know, and I want to make sure that I am updating them on a regular basis. So how does this fit into my commitment to the year? Well, I am going for a family feel. Why family? Well, in my opinion all families are grounded in LOVE (for better or worse), and that’s the premise of my teaching philosophy; LOVE.
Strategy one to get there includes monthly newsletters. It’s a quick way to give a glimpse into what is going in my classroom. I’ve used newsletters before, but received feedback that they were too difficult to navigate and too long. Read, I was wasting time creating them because no one ever read them. I’ve revamped them, and I’m kinda in love with the sleeker version. My school is heading towards using Google exclusively so I’ve created templates that work for Google classrooms.
Below is a sample newsletter. As a treat for followers I am including a template for teachers to check out. I’d love to know what you think! Click the links below and enjoy!
You will notice that I have templates with and without headings. I am a teacher, I know that not everyone will want to use the headings I use.
